Overlooked Leader Tip: If you are in a job where management hasn’t either recognized your leadership potential and promoted you or continues to overlook you for leadership roles that you’ve applied for, then you could seek leadership opportunities through volunteering. There are loads of nonprofits that need your skills 5-10 hours a week. You can fund-raise, coordinate, project manage and exercise all those other wonderful leadership skills. Volunteering can go on your resume. And it makes you feel so so good. You may not get paid for it, but it has its value.
